An alternative to ScoreDetect

ScoreDetect timestamps content on the SKALE blockchain and wraps it in a content-protection subscription: a WordPress plugin, Zapier automations, an API, and — on the enterprise tier — watermarking and takedown monitoring. If you publish continuously and want protection wired into that pipeline, it is a capable product. This page is about the different job.

What ScoreDetect is built for

ScoreDetect is aimed at people who publish a lot: marketers, content teams, creators running a site. The product assumes a stream of content and tries to protect all of it automatically. That is why the integrations matter more than the timestamp itself — the WordPress plugin fires on publish, Zapier connects it to whatever else you run, and the API lets you script it.

Certificates are cheap at volume because they run on SKALE, a chain with no gas fees. On their Pro plan, 100 certificates a month are included for a monthly fee, which works out to roughly eleven cents each.

Credit where it is due: that is a genuinely lower price per certificate than ours, and their integration surface is much larger than ours. If either of those is your deciding factor, they are the better fit and this page will not talk you out of it.

Where the two products diverge

The difference is not really technical. It is about what the product assumes you are protecting.

ScoreDetect assumes published content — things already on the internet, where the risk is someone copying them. Our customers bring the opposite: a design that has not been shown to anyone, a manuscript before submission, a deal document under NDA. The risk there is not scraping. It is that the file has to stay confidential and still be provable.

The subscription question

A monthly plan is excellent value if you timestamp constantly. It is poor value if you timestamp four things a year, because you pay in the months you use nothing. At roughly $11 a month, a year costs about $132 whether or not you create a single certificate.

We sell certificates outright. They do not expire once created, and there is nothing to cancel. Credits are used when you choose to use them, within twelve months of purchase.

Independent verification

Our certificates put the payload hash into the input data of a dedicated Ethereum transaction. Anyone can open the transaction on Etherscan, click "View as UTF-8", and read it — no account, no client, no cooperation from us. If this company disappeared tomorrow, every certificate we have ever issued would still verify.

That is a design choice with a cost: one transaction per certificate is why we cannot reach eleven cents. It is also why the proof does not depend on our continued existence. Which of those matters more depends entirely on what you are protecting.

Be careful with the claims on both sides

ScoreDetect's marketing uses phrases like "prove ownership" and "creator authenticity". A timestamp does not do that. It proves a specific file existed by a specific time and has not changed since — existence and integrity, not authorship. This matters practically, not just pedantically. If you present a timestamp as proof of authorship and the other side knows better, you have weakened an otherwise strong piece of evidence.

ScoreDetect protects a stream of published content and is built around integrations. We produce independent, verifiable proof for a single confidential document. Their certificates are verified through their platform; ours are a dedicated Ethereum transaction whose contents anyone can read on Etherscan without us.
Does ScoreDetect see my file?
They state that they store a checksum rather than the asset itself, which is the correct design. We do the same, and go one step further in what we can prove about it: our hashing runs in your browser with the Web Crypto API, so you can watch the network tab and confirm no file is transmitted. Does BlockchainSign have a WordPress plugin or an API?
